MCVFRA Press Release - May 14, 2010 Read the Executive Summary of the study mentioned in the press release showing ambulance fees deter the public from calling 911 here. Read the full study here.
On May 19, 2010 the County Council approved legislation related to the FY11 budget that included the ambulance transport fee proposal. Five Council members ignored the overwhelming public opposition to this fee. Please contact those council members who voted in favor of the fee to express your disapproval of their vote. The MCVFRA will be leading an effort to repeal legislation in a public referendum in November. For more information, visit the Stop Ambulance Fees in Montgomery County web site. If you are interested in assisting in this effort, please click here to send the MCVFRA an email offering your support; at least 35,000 signatures are required to place this referendum on the ballot. Those who voted in favor of imposing this fee are: Mr. Elrich, Ms. Floreen, Mr. Knapp, Mr. Leventhal and Ms. Trachtenberg. You may contact them individually or the entire council.
